"AKSHAYA TRITIYAI", the third day of the bright half of Chithirai, is considered one of the most sacred days of the year. The word `Akshaya' means that which never diminishes.
This year it was 11th of May.
It is considered the perfect time to make your investments in Gold, it is in fact considered one of the most sacred days of the year.
The Akshaya Tritiyai means-that which never diminishes: hence purchases made on this day, are meant to bring luck and prosperity throughout the year.

All its attributes are personified in the Goddess Lakshmi. Gold has very strong associations with good fortune and prosperity. In essence the idea behind the festival of "Akshaya Tritiyai".

Iyathurai Chandrasegar believes the traditional way of making jewellery than using the new technology. He says that using the new technology is easier. And traditional way takes time, but last longer.

Iyathurai Chandrasegar makes jewellery for the local market as well as for export to Singapore, Dubai and London.
He says that he and his employees make fifty sovereign worth of jewellery daily, at Sujatha Jewellery Work Shop, in Sea Street, Colombo.
